About Our Practice
Established in 2016, we are an innovative architectural practice with a reputation for delivering characterful, high-quality schemes. By putting people at the heart of our design process, we establish healthy and sustainable environments, anchor new neighbourhoods and create strong visual identities.
Our practice is led by our founders, Jon Ackroyd and Oliver Lowrie who both have longstanding experience and are committed to building the cities of the future, including championing retrofit and re-use. Working across the UK, our studio is known for design excellence in a variety of sectors.
Our residential work encompasses small developments, major mixed-use schemes and neighbourhood masterplanning in excess of £200m. Commercially, we’ve designed award-winning film and photographic studios, leisure facilities and workspaces while our education projects comprise schools, academies and colleges, including the renowned Thomas’s Battersea.
Services
We provide a full range of architectural services including concept and feasibility studies, interior design, technical design and delivery.
We follow a design-led approach, but what sets us apart is our ability to seek other avenues to add value. Our intention is always to think holistically, engaging communities and stakeholders as early as possible in the design process. We strongly advocate the use of smart technologies, such as Virtual Reality (VR), on every project as we find there is no comparison for presenting a unique, first-person perspective. The most sustainable thing we can do is to build buildings correctly the first time, and it’s our belief that VR is essential for this.
Client Relationships
We pride ourselves on building productive and longstanding relationships with our clients; many of whom have been with us since inception. Our practice ethos is to be honest and open, adopting a collaborative approach with our clients to ensure they remain well-informed, included and empowered at all stages.
Our design process begins by listening to the client and establishing their vision, objectives and requirements. From here, we will communicate our ideas through illustrations, hand-drawn sketches, models, verified views, animations and in full 3D via our VR headsets. This ensures clients can have complete confidence in the design prior to construction and enables cost-effective delivery.
