The brief
To successfully deliver high-quality commercial, industrial and residential floorspace within a unique, sustainable and ambitious mixed-use project.
Our approach
Hosting a variety of different end uses requires an imaginative design solution. To maintain distinction between the residential space and commercial enterprises, our approach was to create generous roof terraces for residents, establishing a totally separate environment. This dynamic has created an element of playfulness in the design.
Our design
Our design proposal is for nine residential units, 686m² of office space and 550m² of commercial area. This includes a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes, and is characterised by the following:
Chamfered windows to help direct views away from adjacent properties
A communal courtyard containing green space
Ground floor light industrial warehouse unit and first floor large open-plan office space
All residential apartments and duplexes are located on the building’s second floor, which also contains a green communal amenity space along with cycle parking and entrances to the two blocks.
To create a highly sustainable development, our design specifies a high-performing thermal envelope which will maximise thermal comfort whilst reducing energy consumption. In addition, the scheme features intensive green roofs, water efficiency systems, and available roof space for photovoltaic panels.
The Result
A planning application for Park Road was submitted in January 2023.
