Urban Farming in Dagenham

Last week, some of the team visited an organic urban farm in Dagenham that we’re going to be working closely with over the coming months thanks to the help of Alice Holden, one of the recent guests on our Urban Forecast podcast.

As a team, we’re going to be designing an education centre at the farm, and assisting them with the building of this exciting new facility. There are just 50 urban farms across the UK and we want to help grow this number!

The education centre is more than just an addition to our architectural portfolio (in fact, we’re doing this pro bono), it’s part of our commitment to sustainable living and nurturing our local community. The design process will be incorporated into our existing outreach programme with local schools, that we deliver as part of the AL Academy. Projects liked these present a unique opportunity to teach young people how urban farming can help with both food supply and waste disposal.

We’re looking forward to seeing this project develop over the next few months. To find out more about urban farming listen to Alice on the Urban Forecast podcast.
