Consent for Lambeth Apart-Hotel

Planning consent has been granted for a 135 room apart-hotel, associated workspace and F&B we designed on Clapham Road, Lambeth.

Responding to the architectural language of neighbouring listed buildings and the wider St Mark’s Conservation Area, our design uses a traditional palette of brickwork and stone in a contemporary way. The result is a modern and highly sustainable building that complements its context yet stands out as an exceptional design.

Planning officers commented that “the proposed architecture and materials are well considered and represent a positive response to the historic context. The proposed development would have a beneficial effect on the setting of the adjoining and nearby Grade II listed buildings… and would enhance the character and appearance of the St Mark’s Conservation Area.”

In addition to responding to context, our design proposal also sought to:

  • Provide an active frontage to Clapham Road

  • Utilise lush courtyards at the heart of the scheme to bring in natural daylight, ventilation and planting

  • Provide extensive on-site renewables and a high-performing façade to make this one of the UK’s most sustainable apart-hotel developments
