Ackroyd Lowrie will be opening their doors for a hosted evening on the 19th September 2016 as part of The London Design Festival. The annual event is held to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world and as the gateway to the international creative community. This year the festival will be held between the 17th and 25th September 2016. First staged in 2003, the London Design Festival is one of the world's most important annual design events. The Festival programme is made up of over 400 events and exhibitions staged by hundreds of Partner organisations across the design spectrum and from around the world.
Ackroyd Lowrie is located on Vyner Street in Bethnal Green and is an active member in the Maker Mile initiative. Maker Mile is a corner of East London with a rich history of fabrication and exciting future in the making. It has over 50 creative studios, mini factories and open workshops. It is a thriving hub of making, design and technology. Building on this area's thriving local maker scene, pop up events will take place during the week of London Design Festival. Highlights include: Open Mile - a night of maker workshops across the mile, Recode the City Festival, an afternoon of flash talks on new hardwares for cities and the public realm curated by Thomas Ermacora at LimeWharf and RCA Design Products graduates exhibiting at Machines Room.
Maker Mile will be leading tours of the area across the week which include Ackroyd Lowrie on their rota. These tours are a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes and gain an insight into who we are and what we do. Attendees will meet in the Fix Our City Exhibition at Machine Rooms at 11am. We hope to see you there!
